WHAT ARE THE COSTS IN RUNNING A WEBSITE?

IT'S IMPORTANT TO SET A BUDGET FOR YOUR WEBSITE BEFORE,
AND AFTER IT GOES LIVE

Like yourself, your car, your home, and most things in your life, once your website goes live it's important to keep it healthy, whether it's done by you, someone else or by us. Don't let all the initial hard work fall over a few months in.

INITIAL COSTS OF SETTING UP A WEBSITE

Domain fee:

from €10 to €50 per mainstream domain
Different domain names cost varying prices depending on what it is, and where you register, for example a .eu is about €10, .com about €20, and something special like .audio is about €150 (there are more expensive ones too!)

Hosting fees:

from about €120/year for a basic package, but it is better to go with a circa €270 solution that includes a faster server and recommended extras like backups and monthly (and critical) security updates

Website:

from €625 to €3,500+, the average being €1,650
We source license free photos where possible, but that may be an extra cost (rarely happens unless you are a very niche area and don't have your own photos)
Specific plugins may require a license/subscription, but that rarely occurs.

Additional email service: We recommended a separate email service like Google Workstation. (Approx. €6/user/month)

YEARLY FEES (after first)

Once your website is up and running there are monthly and yearly costs too. Monthly costs are something you can do yourself to make a saving, or take contract out with us to do the work.

Domain and Hosting (and additional Email service)

(as above)

Monthly wordPress security updates (plus any critical ones):

€170/year (unless you host with us)

Content additions and tweaks:

€55/hour (or 10 hours credits - €400)

Google Workstation Email:

€6/user/month

Security and content updates are something you can do yourself, but most of our clients don't have the time and more often don't have the want to do it themselves. Work is recorded in 15min intervals, so if you request something that takes 15mins you don't get charged a full hour. Invoices are sent out at the of the month for any work done.

Is your business eligible for the Local Enterprise Office €2,500 grant?
You may be able to get a grant from your local LEO to fund some or all of your project.
